Caring Contact welcomes new Director of Community Engagement
June 14, 2021Dear Caring Contact Community,
I am ecstatic to share the news that Mary Claire Givelber has accepted the position as Executive Director of Caring Contact, starting immediately. I will work to transition her for the next month, ensuring she has everything she needs to be successful.
Many of you already know Mary Claire, as she has worked as the Director of Community Engagement since 2018 and is a volunteer listener with 238 hours on the lines.
Mary Claire earned her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and her Master's degree in Public Policy from Columbia University. Her work experience before Caring Contact includes work with a managed care consulting firm and as a project manager for a real estate developer. She currently serves as a trustee of Imagine, a tutor at the Westfield Neighborhood Council, and a prep cook with Valerie's Soup Kitchen in Plainfield. Mary Claire raised three boys who are now young adults, and lives in Westfield with her husband. I am confident that Mary Claire has the education, experience, and leadership qualities that will ensure her success as our next director.
On a personal note, Mary Claire is a pleasure to work with and is a friend to all who know her. She knows our business and cares deeply about our mission. She has excellent relationships with the staff and has collaborated over the years on projects across the organization. The entire staff is excited to have Mary Claire as the next director.
Please join me in welcoming Mary Claire in her new role. I am moving out of my office this week and Mary Claire will be moving in. I’m sure she will appreciate it if you stop to welcome and congratulate her when you come in for your next shift. Seeing each of you and having a few minutes of conversation was always my favorite part of the job.
